Last day in Don Det, Mekong water falls, bungalow on river beach, swimming, Indian food, Movie night

(Day 24)

Our last day in Don Det was a memorable one. We rented bicycles and made our way to Don Khon, the sister island that lies just south of Don Det. The five of us probably looked ridiculous riding around in our basket bicycles, but at this point we don't care. Plus, every other Falang (Westerner) on the island does the same thing.

We rode to some waterfalls that were quite impressive. The whole Mekong river joins in to create some beautiful cascades. A roaring rush of water hurtles down with great power.

We walked to a nearby restaurant that was on the river beach. We found a nice shaded bungalow, ordered some mango shakes and french fries, and then relaxed for an hour or so.

On our way back to Don Det, Blake bought some sugar cane juice from a local vendor. Dalton, upon seeing Blake's joyful face, jealously decided he wanted one too. Dalton was nice enough to give me a taste. I will not lie, it was delicious. Fresh sugar cane juice is something everyone needs to try once in their life.

Arrio led the way back to Don Det at the highest speeds our bikes could handle. His determination was driven by his desire to jump into the river.

Jumping into the river on a hot day is what life is all about. We rented some more tubes and floated back to the tree swing. We practiced diving off of trees and continued working on our tans. We met up with a guy named Pete who we met back at Kong Lo cave; a New Zealander.

We ate dinner at Jasmine's and then had stopped by a little restaurant to watch a movie.
