Wait-Vientiane? nap, Indian food.

(Day 18)

We woke up on the sleeping bus thinking we were in Vang Vieng. We got off the bus and pulled out our maps. Unable to locate ourselves on the map, we got a tuk tuk ride into "city center". After several minutes of walking, we "located" ourselves using a river and an island in the river. According to the map, all we needed to do was head North for a fraction of a kilometer and we would find some guesthouse that looked appealing.

After several miles of walking, we made a terrible discovery. We were not at all in Vang Vieng. We were in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Wonderful! To our credit, we took the news very well. We even laughed about the whole thing. We felt like a group of idiots, no doubt, but we coined our motto: "It's all part of the experience."

We found a guesthouse and made the immediate decision to head south the next day to Kong Lo village.

We had some wonderful Indian food for dinner. I got the chicken tikka masala which has become my favorite Indian dish along with some butter and garlic Naan.
