Scandanavian Breakfast, Utopia, and the sleeping bus

(Day 17)

Today we decided to take it easy. We woke up late, ate a long breakfast at "The Scandanavian Cafe", and had a long, intense conversation about the philosophy of film. This is one of our favorite topics (Dalton would not agree), and, therefore, we took a good hour and half for breakfast. I think that we are all having the craving to watch a movie. We're not used to going more than 24 hours without getting some sort of visual stimulation because we're Americans.

Our departing time from Luang Prabang was 7:00 pm. We were to take a Tuk Tuk to the bus station, and board a "sleeping bus" to go from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng. Thus, we had some time to kill. We spent most of it at a local hang out spot called "Utopia". It is a beautiful venue that overlooks Nam Khan river and is decorated with luscious gardens and soft seats. I finished the book "The Quiet American" and relaxed.

The sleeping bus was certainly adventurous. There was not enough room to stretch out on, and since there was five of us, Arrio had to sleep with some random Italian guy. He didn't seem to mind. I slept with Sam, Blake with Dalton.

It was one of those nights where you never really fall asleep, but are never really fully awake. One of those nights where you wake up almost more tired than you were when you went to bed.

The whole experience was comical. What happened next was priceless.
